Project Lacrosse
Introduction of Lacrosse:
Lacrosse, a team sport with its origins among Indigenous peoples in North America, specifically the Native American tribes, boasts a long and storied history spanning centuries. Over time, the game has transformed into a widely acknowledged and played sport, featuring organized leagues and teams in the United States and Canada. This all-encompassing overview delves into the fundamental elements of lacrosse, encompassing its historical background, regulations, gear, and diverse adaptations.
Skills and Critical Elements:
Scooping the ball
- Try to balance your body as low as possible.
- Hold the stick with the upper hand close to the head, while ensuring that the pocket faces downwards.
- Approach the ball by bending your knees, keeping your stick low and parallel to the ground.
- Scoop the ball in a controlled motion.
Throwing the ball
- Build a strong grip on the stick.
- Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, and face towards the target.
- Keep the pocket above your upper hand shoulder and parallel to the ground.
- Load up for the pass by rotating your shoulders and hips. Pull your top hand back and push your bottom hand forward.
- Aim and throw the ball towards the target.
Catching the ball
- Balance your body and be ready to catch the ball.
- Keep your eyes on the ball.
- Hold your stick tight and make it fall into your stick's pocket (using perfect timing) and try to decrease the momentum of the ball so that it can stay in the pocket.
- Always use your wrist to cradle the ball to save it from your opponents.

- The player holds the lacrosse stick with the correct grip, maintains balance, and hands positioned apart for better control and leverage.
- The player focuses on the last point of contact of the ball for better accuracy.
- The player's footwork and the movement of hands and wrists was perfect which generates power along with accuracy without loss of extra energy.
- The player's accuracy and the amount of energy used by him were perfect.
Becca
- The accuracy of the player was almost perfect.
- The player threw the ball only when the other person was ready to catch it.
- Footwork plays an important role in throwing of ball which was very nicely done by the player.
Catching a Ball
Ishan Phougat
- The player positions his hands in the right spot where he can catch the ball. Also, he tries to decrease the momentum of the ball so that it can stay within the pocket.
- In case the player can’t catch the ball he scoops the ball as soon as possible to protect it from opponents.
- The player's accuracy and the amount of energy used by him were perfect.
Becca
- The player was focused and ready to catch the ball regardless of speed.
- The hand position was perfect to catch the ball and she caught all the balls with soft hands for a more accurate catch which is very important.
- The timing and coordination were perfect with great footwork.

The source of this grant is Microsoft Research which is one of the divisions of Microsoft Corporation. The purpose of this grant is to encourage students towards the area of research in the fields of Computer Science, Artificial intelligence, and related fields which is a great step in terms of long run for the technology industry. The requirements depend on multiple factors for instance the budget of a project, previous work experience, CVs and Resume, and proposal which indicates the motives and objectives of the research, and Eligibility which is an important factor. There can be multiple usages of grants for example it can fulfill the requirements of necessary research equipment, it can be used for publishing the research in educational journals, it can be used as scholarship for financially unstable brilliant students, and many more.
